Day 28 – Don’t Do Things Your Own Way

Updated: Jul 22, 2020

“There is a way that seems right to a man,

But its end is the way of death.” Proverbs 14:12 (NKJV)

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV)

Frank Sinatra was a famous singer who sang the famous song “My Way”.  There are times in my life when I think that I am on the right track and then later, I find out that I’m off track.  I could try saying or doing the right thing but yet I am not trusting in the Lord.  The scripture says “trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.”  It’s a heart condition.  You might say, “What do you mean by that?”

“Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.” Proverbs 4:23 (NKJV)

How do we acknowledge Him?  By spending time with Him in prayer and reading the Word of God.

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way.” Psalm 37:23 (NKJV)

As we allow God to drive the car and we sit “shotgun”, we will not lean on our own understanding and do it “My Way.”

Father, in the name of Jesus I come before You asking to forgive me of anything in my heart that stops You from doing what You want to do in my life.  Search me Lord, cleanse my heart, and wash me so that I will not lean on my own understanding in Jesus name, Amen.
